Fountains of Bellagio, Las Vegas, Nevada

This is a collection of some of my music.  To the right you will find a couple samples of my film music which I have set to picture as part of my USC Film Scoring Certification.  Below are audio-only samples organized into two sections.  The first section is additional film music.  The second is a collection of other works of varying instrumentation, style and mood.  You can listen to each piece by clicking the link in the Audio column, and can view the score (if its available) by clicking in the Score column.  The length of each piece as well as its size is noted within the [brackets].  See the bottom of the page for video and audio copyright information.

Movie Studio Logo [0:13] MP3 [197 KB] 1 Page This piece was composed for the short logo sequence preceding the main title of the movie, Mystery Alaska.  This is definitely the shortest piece I have ever written!  Hear this piece with picture (click link above).
Main Title: Mystery Alaska [1:46] MP3 [1.6 M] 7 Pages A man skates along a massive frozen Alaskan river.  in this piece I worked at trying to capture the lightness and wide open spaces of the scene.  I think it worked.  Hear this piece with picture (click link above).
Demons Awake [2:15] MP3 [2.1 M] 7 Pages In the Firebird sequence at the end of Fantasia 2000, there is a section where the Firebird comes alive and destroys all life on the mountain.  I composed this piece for that scene.
Flapjacks for Charlie [2:38] MP3 [2.5 M] 10 Pages It's not often one gets the opportunity to write music for a Charlie Chaplin film, and then have it critiqued by someone who actually worked with Chaplin himself!  I dedicate this piece to David Raksin.
Main Title: A River Runs Through It [2:10] MP3 [2.0 M] 3 Pages This film sequence is a slideshow of old photographs of people and places in the old west.  I tried to write a piece that conveyed the feeling of nostalgia as well as the warmth of fond memories.
sCore [2:17] MP3 [2.1 M]   The title is a play on words.  This piece was written for a scene from the movie The Core, which was scored by one of my USC instructors, Christopher Young.  This is the part of the movie where Rome is destroyed.
Dawson Takes Charge [1:28] MP3 [1.3 M]   A scene from Dawson's Creek, where Dawson takes command on the set of a TV show he is directing.  The music reflects his I'm-in-too-deep feeling and then gets groovy when he finally takes control.
Bladerunner [1:29] MP3 [1.4 M]   This is a cue written for a scene from the movie Bladerunner in which a spaceship is seen flying from one place to another.   I tried to capture the feeling of flight in the music.  You get the idea.
Two-timer [1:33] MP3 [1.5 M]   This cue is for a nightmare sequence from a made-for-TV movie called Two.  A man is awoken in the night by a sound.   He investigates and finds muddy footprints in the house.  Sounds scarier than it really is.
Prague Duet [1:13] MP3 [1.1 M]   Another made-for-TV movie that never came out.   This was my very first music-to-film experience, as well as my first attempt at scoring a romantic scene.  I think it turned out well, albeit a little over the top at times.  :)

The Jackal [2:08] MP3 [2.0 M]   Although this piece was written during my USC Film Scoring time, it does not go to any picture.  It is a big band work, and my very first in that genre.  It was definitely a challenge!
Inez's Hymn from No Exit [3:19] MP3 [3.1 M] 5 Pages A friend of mine who was directing a rather dark play entitled No Exit, approached me about putting music to a song, the lyrics of which were in the play.  I accepted and this piece is the result.  The vocalist on this recording is my very talented and good friend, Angie O'Dell.  Thanks Angie!
Fugue in F minor for Two Organists [2:53] MP3 [1.0 M] 7 Pages I began writing this fugue as an exercise in counterpoint.  I wanted to see if I could write a complex contrapuntal work without the aid of an instrument.  I was successful, and only used the keyboard to correct minor mistakes after the piece was completed.
Psychoharmonic Rag [1:40] MP3 [1.6 M] 4 Pages I wrote this piece during my youth when I was caught up in a ragtime phase; Go Scott Joplin!  Anyway, this rag gets its name from the oddly harmonic middle section.  In fact, I trapped myself in G minor for six months before figuring a way out.  Hehe.
